Kintsugi: the repair is the point

Kintsugi (金継ぎ) — 'golden joinery' — is the practice of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted in gold, so the crack becomes a visible seam rather than a hidden flaw.

The philosophy runs deeper than the craft: a repaired object isn't a damaged one pretending to be whole, it's an object with a documented history. The break is part of the piece now, not erased from it.

We think about kintsugi whenever a bug report turns into a fix. The honest version of a changelog doesn't pretend the bug never happened — it names it, dates it, and moves on. The seam stays visible on purpose.
